The 2016 NFL regular season is officially over, so we can now begin to examine schedules for next year. Along with playing their typical NFC East opponents, the Washington Redskins finished third in the division, which means they line up with the other third place teams in the conference. The rest of the Redskins schedule includes the teams from the NFC West and the AFC West. Let’s dive into the home and road breakdown.

Washington RedskinsAt first glance, it looks like a fairly tough schedule. On the home side, the Raiders have the best young quarterback in the game. The Vikings have a tenacious defense and could be getting Teddy Bridgewater back. The Broncos are a quarterback away from being a Super Bowl threat once again. And the Cardinals have the ability to put up points on anyone, as the Redskins saw first-hand this year.

The road slate might be even tougher. Seattle, Kansas City, and New Orleans are three of the toughest places to play in the entire league, and San Diego and Los Angeles could be on the up-tick, depending on who they bring in to fill their vacant head coaching positions. The road schedule also includes three West Coast trips.

Clearly, the Redskins shouldn’t be playing the schedule game right now. They have plenty of their own questions to answer after Sunday’s heartbreaker, and predicting schedules is always a fool’s errand. But with fans already looking to what the next year will bring, it’s important to realize what lies ahead. Not only will the Redskins have their hands full with the tough NFC East, they will also have to play some of the more established franchises in the NFL.
